Raina is about to start sixth grade and all she wants to be is a normal girl. One night, however, after a scouts' meeting, she trips, falls, and seriously injures her two front teeth. She must then endure a whole series of dental operations and apparatuses, even a retainer with fake teeth! On top of that, she also has to deal with an earthquake, boy trouble, and friends who turn out to be not what they seem. Raina va a sexto y su único deseo es ser una chica normal. Pero una noche, después de una reunion de scouts, tropieza y se lesion gravemente los dos incisivos. Empieza entonces un largo y frustante periplo entre aparatos de quita y pon, operaciones, un bochornoso arco facial y hasta un paladar con dientes postizos. Encima tener que lidiar con otras cosas: un terremoto de primera magnitude, el lio de los chicos, unas amigas que resultan no serlo tanto. La historia nos conduce desde el colegio hasta el instituto, donde Raina descubre su voz artística, averigua qué es la auténtica Amistad y puede finalmente...sonreí.
