While visiting the farm, Martha learns new words and that she might not be cut out to be a farm dog, until a coyote threatens the sheep and it is up to Martha to raise the alarm.

Martha works to get people to sign the petition to ban fireworks until Helen solves the problem of saving the local dogs' hearing with a movie.

When her family wants to make valentines, it's up to Martha the talking dog to figure out who hid the card-making supplies.
